Family Centered Nursing Care for Child with Muscular Dystrophy

Abstract
Muscular dystrophies all have a genetic origin in which there is gradual degeneration of muscle fibers, and they are characterized by progressive weakness and wasting of symmet-ric skeletal muscles, with increasing disability and deformity.
The major emphasis of nursing care for child with muscular dystrophy is to help child and family cope with the progressive, incapacitating, and fatal nature of disease; to help design a program that will afford a greater degree of independence and the predictable and preventable disabilities associated with the disorder and to help the child and family deal constructively with limitations the disease impose their lives.
The results obtained in this study will help in the development of family nursing practice for patients with muscular dystrophy in the Korean sociocultural context.
